For people who suffer from this severely can be sedated and relaxed. Why do children have dental anxiety? Sometimes, parents pass on their fears to their children and don’t even realize it. Other times, they are afraid because of horror stories told to them by their peers. A lot of times, these stories are out of this world unreal and are blown out of proportion to the max.
There are a few things that you can do to help your child overcome their fear of the dentist. The first thing you want to make sure you do is start dentist check up as soon as possible. This is very important. The sooner you start, the more comfortable your child will be with each visit.
On the other hand, you can always encourage excellent oral hygiene. By doing this, the dentist visits will be at a minimum. This also makes children a little more at ease when they have to go. If they are taking care of their teeth as they should, no extreme dental work will have to be done.
If you would like, you could take your child along for the ride when it’s your time to see the dentist. It’s a great idea to be a role model for your child. Mommy and daddy are usually a child’s hero. It’s as if you have super powers and can do no harm or wrong. If they see you leave the dentist office with a bright smile on your face, they might rethink the visit for themselves and give it a try with little or no hassle.
