How Much Do Dental Braces Cost
Orthodontic brackets, commonly known as dental braces, are used to adjust jaws that are misaligned in order for patients to possess that toothpaste ad smile. But is it practical for parents to take their children to orthodontists and pay thousands of dollars just for some crooked teeth? So how much do these dental braces cost?
On an average, the dental treatment plan will cost around $5,000. If you have a health insurance plan it may cost a little less but make sure that your dental insurance covers orthodontic brackets. For some dental insurance companies, braces are considered cosmetic dentistry and they would usually refuse to cover it.
There are some factors that may lessen or shoot up your dental invoice. For one, it depends on the amount of work to be done. It may also depend on the type of brackets that your Ortho thinks is best for you (e.g. material). Let me just remind you that the cost of these braces does not at all include tooth extraction, dental x-rays and other treatments that your doctor may require. It may also depend on your location, which means that if you live in a small town you will most probably be able to pay much lesser than what you are going to pay when you are let’s say, in L.A.
For everybody’s information, $5,000 does not mean making an upfront payment of the full amount. It may be several appointments until the dental treatment plan is completed. To those who wouldn’t really mind paying a seemingly huge amount just for their loved ones to obtain a perfect smile, the price is all worth it.
Trivia: Did you know that in some countries, braces have become a status symbol? While most of the time the kid who wears braces get bullied and called ugly, in other parts of the world braces are the in thing, and that it says something about your family’s financial situation.
