Metal, Ceramic and Clear Dental Braces Cost

Orthodontics have significantly progressed in the past several years making it possible to offer new options to the conventional metal braces, giving the users a lot of choices. There are at present ceramic braces, invisible braces and clear braces in addition to the traditional metal braces. But the cost of braces differ to a large extent depending on several factors such as the type of braces chosen, the professional fee of the orthodontist, the degree or extensiveness of the treatment and even the area or the country where one is getting the braces. Given the entire factors attendant to an orthodontic treatment, the average cost of a treatment will vary from $ 3,000 to $ 10,000.

Metal Braces
The traditional metal braces are still considered the least expensive of all the braces available in the market today. Usually metal braces are the only option for those patients that require a more extensive correction that other braces cannot provide. The orthodontist will advice you if you have the option to use other braces or whether it is metal braces that you need. Metal braces cost from $3,000 to $5,000 exclusive of the cost of extraction, x-rays and other special appliances.

Ceramic Braces
Most patients go for ceramic braces for its aesthetic value since ceramic braces are less obvious or conspicuous because the color of these braces blend naturally with the color of the teeth. Another advantage of ceramic braces is that they do not stain or become discolored. Ceramic braces cost approximately $500 more than metal braces.

Clear Braces
Clear braces are made of monocrystalline sapphire that is almost transparent and only the fine arch wire is observable making it virtually invisible. Normally, clear braces are slightly more expensive than traditional metal braces. Standard cost of clear brackets installed on the six front teeth will cost around $200 more than metal braces.
