Braces are not only to give you a dazzling smile; they improve dental health and correct severe overcrowding and bite problems. It works by putting stress against the teeth, shifting them slowly over time. The stress is applied by a metal wire, known as archwire that are applied on the outside of the teeth. Rubber bands made from surgical latex that add pressure on the teeth are also a component of metal braces.
Then, braces had an archwire linked to big metal bands that separately covered and were cemented around each tooth. The metal bands of before were troublesome and even hurt particularly when it is put on or adjusted.
Now, the archwire is affixed to small brackets made of metal or ceramics. The brackets are joined to the front of the teeth with a glue-type formula. Some of the bonding formula incessantly discharges fluoride to help care for the enamel of the teeth beneath the brackets. Metal bands may still be applied on the back teeth, but they are tinier and lighter than the bands of before.
Then, the archwire needed regular fine-tuning or replacement by the orthodontist to put on unremitting pressure. Now, the archwires are functional over a longer period of time. They do not need periodic adjustments and therefore less visits to the orthodontist. .
Now, there are more options for braces to make them less noticeable, or if a patient chooses, more apparent, with a fashion and fun aspect. There are clear braces as well as colored and even gold braces. Colors are popular with teens and kids. The colored parts of braces these days are the elastic ties that join the archwire to the brackets, and they can be changed when the archwire is fine-tuned. Now, there are even invisible braces called “lingual braces” that are fixed onto the inside of the teeth, Advances in design and materials have taken braces a long way since the “metal mouth” look of the past.

All Types of Dental Braces
Individuals who are looking to straighten their teeth have a number of options to choose from depending on their situation. There are several different types of braces and the prices ranges vary for each one but they all have the ability to correct the positioning of the teeth.
Traditional metal braces are the most common choice for those straightening their teeth. These are normally made from stainless steel. There are variations of these braces in that instead of using stainless steel, one can choose gold, silver, or titanium. These are more expensive and are requested mostly by those with allergies to the materials in the stainless steel type. With either of these, the brackets that are placed on the teeth can be white, colored, and so on.
Clear braces have pieces attached that are invisible and the only part that can be seen in the thin wire. Even the wire however is barely visible.
Ceramic braces are less visible than traditional braces as they are made the same color as the teeth but again the wire can be seen although not as noticeable as the traditional braces. While these are more aesthetically pleasing than metal braces, they are more breakable.
Invisible braces are becoming more popular because they are just as the name implies. They are a completely clear molding that is placed over the teeth, gradually straightening them. These are used for individuals with less complicated corrections.
Lingual braces are also available and are invisible but not in the same way. These are metal braces that are placed on the back side of the teeth so that no one sees them. These can be used to correct more severe problems that the invisible style cannot correct.
For those with corrections needed on their teeth, they do have a variety to choose from but they are recommended to pick the one that best suits their needs and not just base their decision on the aesthetic appeal.
